Reference:

Letter to NRC dated November 20, 1987, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN) Units 1 and 2 - Cable Test Program Procedures, Data, and Results" Enclosed is the " Qualification Test Program for Silicone Rubber Cables with Reduced Insulation Thicknesses for Use in Tennessee Valley Authority's Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Unit 2" that was recently completed at Wyle Laboratories, Huntsville, Alabama. Although the report is marked proprietary, TVA does not consider this information exempt from disclosure, based on the criteria in 10 CFR 2.790.

This qualification test program was performed to verify that these silicone rubber cables, which cordained reduced wall thicknesses and ir.duced impact damage, would perform their intended function during the specified design basis event (loss of coolant accident simulation). The test program also fulfilled the intent of the Institute cf Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Standards 323-1974 and 383-1974.

TVA's assessment of the Hyle test program and its results will be presented to NRC at the November 24, 1987 meeting in Bethesda, Maryland.
