HIGHLY ENRICHED URANIUM SAMPLE (< 10 GRAMS) UNACCOUNTED FOR The licensee reported a missing laboratory control standard containing less than 10 grams of U-235 ' form maintained in a 30 m1 bottle. The sample was last used on Friday, August 22. It was discovered missing from its normal location in the laboratory on Thurs, day, August 28.

The licensee has notified the Schnectedy Naval Reactors Office'and is con- g

" ducting an extensive search. Licensee tests indicate that an attempt to remove this amount of material would be detected by the installed doorway )

monitoring system. This specific material form is Classified Confidential, i Restricted Data.

Media interest is not expected. The State of Connecticut has been and is being kept informed. A press release is not planned.
