at 2:00 a.m. September 12, 1975, following analysis of gas samples obtained l' September 11, which indicated presence of combustibles in the main trans-former at levels representative of significant internal transformer electri-cal problems. Following :Lsolation of the transformer and evaluation of the N problem, the licensee will determine feasibility of comencing annual re- ,

m. fueling outage originally scheduled for October 4, 1975. Time requirements

( for transformer maintenance are unknown at this time. Our Regional Office 1 estimates a delay of several weeks. I 1

Media interest is eq ected because of press sensitivity with respect to the l Millstone site. The State of Connecticut has been and is being kept informed.

A press release is not planned in that the licensee is informing the press.

OIE received notification of this occurrence by telephone from licensee at 9:12 a.m., 9/12/75. /p-
