--PN-75-61 July 31, 1975 THIS PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION CONSTITUTES EARLY NOTIFICATION OF EVENTS OF POSSIBLE SAFETY OR PUBLIC INTEREST SIGNIFICANCE.

Subject:
PHYSICAL SECURITY On June 4, 1975, R. Nader and two former security guards released a
statements about deficiencies in physical security at Three Mile Island (TMI) and other reactors.
IE (Region I) immediately began an investigation into the complaints at TMI. Subsequently the Public Utilities Commission, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, announced its intent to hold public hearings on physical security at reactors.
i The initial IE field investigation of the complaints, including
~ interviewing about 30 individuals, has been dompleted.
Conflicting statements have been made by some irrdividuals and, where possible, a
these conflicts are being resolved.
August 6, 1975, is the target date for completing this investigative effort.
Resolution of the t
conflicts may delay the actual completion date.
