UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE A fire destroyed a barn, used to store some NFS equipment, located on the 1 New York State owned NFS site. The barn was not in the physically secured !
area. It was located a mile from the Reprocessing Plant. The fire was i reported to NFS management at 4:52 a.m. on July 23. It was described as a fireball.

-There were no radioactive or contaminated supplies or equipment in the -
barn. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff and by a private investigator retained by NFS. Arson is

( suspected.
Media interest is expected because of Barn being on NFS site and arson being suspected. The State of New York has been informed. A press release is not planned.
OIE received notification of this occurrence by telephone from W. A. Oldham at 2:00 p.m. July 23, 1975. p).
