i In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.64(C)(2), Washington State University hereby officially notifies the Commission that funds for the conversion of WSU reactor from HEU to LEU will not be available during fiscal year 1988 or 1989. Washington State University was recently notified by DOE of the unavailability of funds by means of a letter from Dr. R.E. Stephens, a copy of which is attached.

Washington State University will notify the Commission should circum- i stances change and will submit the required certification letter for fiscal year 1990 by May 27,1990 if funds are again unavailable for g fiscal year 1990 or the required conversion proposal should funds become )

available for fiscal year 1990.
