CONTAMINATION O'E PLANT HEATING SYSTEM On March 27, 1975, Millstone 1 reported to the Office of Inspection and Enforcement that relatively small areas of the Millstone Point 1 i l Plant were contaminated due to a problem with the condensate to the }

boilers of the plant's heating system. The boilers of the plant's j heating system provide steam to the liquid waste concentrator in the liquid rad waste system. Apparently, a leak in the heating coils  !@

l ~ permitted some' radioactive liquids to enter the condensate of the  ;

plant's heating system. It has been reported that there is no  :

contamination,outside the plant; 35 pairs of shoes have been  : l

temporarily confiscated; and some construction workers have been l

released from the site.

l There has been relatively vide public dissemination of this incident.  :

The issue has bee;n picked up by local radio and TV stations. The Office of Congressman Dodd, Connecticut, has called the Region I l Office asking for information. Information has been provided.

Congressman Dodd stated that he had made arrangements to visit the ,

site on the afternoon of March 27, 1975. An inspector is in route to the site and will review this situation later this date. No press release is being considered at this time; however, a re.sponse to inquiries is being prepared.
