NRC STAFF RESPONSE TO INTERVENERS' MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME On November 18, 1987, Interveners filed Suffolk County, State of New York, and Town of Southampton Motion for Extension of Time
(" Motion").
By that Motion, interveners seek until December 4,1987 in which to respond to the other parties' submissions of October 30, 1987 and November 17, relating to the realism remand -- an extension of 10 days.
As grounds for the Motion, Interveners rely principally on the length of Applicants' November 17, 1987 supplemental brief on the impact of the recent amendment to 10 C.F.R. Section 50.47(c)(1) on the realism remand proceeding. Motion at 2-3.
Although App!Icant's November 17, 1987 brief may have been longer than anticipated, there is much in that brief which repeats ear lier argument.
Contrary to Interveners' apparent assumption, the mere length of the pleading to be responded to does not automatically require a reply of similar length.
However, in order to assure that all parties have adequate opportunity to respond, the Staff would not oppose extension of the filing date for all party replies to the October 30, 1987 and 8712010027 871119 PDR ADOCK 05000322 0
PDR p501 d
4 November 17, 1987 party filings until November 30, 1987 - and extension of six days.
Respectfully submitted,
