50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 - NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-259/87-14, 50-260/87-14, AND 50-296/87 COMMITMENT DATE REVISION FOR VIOLATION CORRECTIVE ACTIONS This letter provides a status update and a revised completion schedule for the corrective actions identified in TVA's response to violation number 1 identified in the subject inspection report. Our original response on this matter was provided in a letter from R. Gridley to G. G. Zech dated July 20, 1987.

The corrective actions originally addressed in this letter included a commitment to:

1.

Perform a special test to verify the adequacy of Surveillance Instructi 4.7.E.5 to correctly set the damper positions required to support the postaccident ventilation valve alignment of the control room emergency ventilation system (CREVS).

2.

Perform a test before restart in which the capability of the CREVS to pressurize the control building to a positive pressure will be demonstrated.

The violation response stated that "... the above corrective actions be completed before the loss of power and loss of coolant accident (LOP /LOCA) restart test which is currently scheduled for December 1,1987."

The BFN schedule for completion of these commitments is being revised to be dependent on the event (LOP /LOCA test) only and not the date.

The original commitments and the revised completion schedule are provided in enclosure 1.

This item was discussed with Mr. J. Watt, NRC Office of Special Projects, on October 29, 1987.
