Dear Mr. Chairman:
On October 1, 1987, I testified before the Subcommittee on Energy and Power to l
provide information regarding the Emergency Response Data System (ERDS). When my testimony was prepared, the NRC best estimates for the NRC ERDS proposal were 5.7 million dollars for implementation and 0.6 million dollars per year for maintenance.
I have been subsequently informed that the NRC, in accordance with established NRC procurement procedures, executed a contract with E. I. International, Inc., in the amount of 2.6 million dollars for implementation.
The 0.6 million dollar annual maintenance cost remains unchanged.
I am providing this information to assure that the record is complete and accurate.
j Sincerely, j
W.
