The purpose of this modification is to incorporate a within-scope change to

-task area 2.to add specific code improvement subtasks which were not priced

'into the basic contract or its option years.

The contract estimated cost will be increased by $115,552, and the fixed fee is increased by $8,089 for a total 2CPFF-increase of $123,640. Accordingly, the contract is modified as follows:

1. Pursuant to FARf52.243-2, the following cubtasks are hereby added to TASK AREA'2 of the contract:

Code Improvement.s (e)

In accoriance with the draf t NRC-SQA Plan, the contractor shall develop j

a script to automate the process of generating a PC version of SCDAP/RELAP5 from the' UNIX version of the code. The contractor shall test and assess the software, and generate.an executable of SCDAP/RELAP5 MOD 3.2 for PC.

The contractor shall document the script and results of assessment.

Completion date: July 31, 1998 (f).

The contractor shall provide support for an HSK (Switzerland) staff who will be-on assignment at NRC/RES to separate the SCDAP modules from the RELAP5/SCDAP code. The contractor shall develop SCDAP-specific interfaces that will couple-the SCDAP code with ar.y T/H code similar to that coupling PARCS with RELAPS.

The. support will be limited to consultation on the RELAPS code and the procedures we develope,d in coupling PARCS with RELAPS.

Completion Date: June 30, 1999 7.

(a)

' Dual Lagrangian Numerical Scheme The. contractor shall develop a dual Lagrangian numerical scheme for thermal-hydraulic computation of two-phase flows with capabilities for

' branching and merging that will be fixed in space.

This may include an upgrade to an existing pilot code to test the numerical schemes on selected problems / data.

The contractor shall document the developed methodology, the pilot code,' and results of testing.

(b)

De-couple Interfacial Temperature from the Pressure Field The contractor shall modify the interfacial temperature in T/H flow computations to de-couple the temperature from the local pressure field to eliminate / moderate-unphysical numerical oscillations.

This may include the use"of a:p~ilot code to test the methodology.

Documentation of the results

As a result of the above, Section B.3, Consideration and obligation, parggraphs (a), (e), and. (f) are deleted in their entirety and the following parcgraphs are substituted in lieu thereof i

"(c) The total estimated cost to the Government for full performance of contract is $2,711,986.69, of which the sum of $2,521,997.59 represents the i

actimated reimbursable costs, the amount of $182,489.88 represents the fixed foo, and the amount of $7,499.22 represents the facilities capital cost of money. These amount do not include amounts for unexercised future option ysors.

The amount currently obligated with respect to this contract is

$2,450,847.28 of which the sum of $2,279,153 represents reimbursable costs,

$6973.22 represents FCCM, and $164,721.06 represent the fixed fee.

(f)

It is estimated that the amount currently allotted will cover performance through September 30, 1998."

Section F.6, Duration of Contract Period, is revised as follows:

"This contract shall commence on 4/24/97 and will expire on 4/23/99.

However, the contract period for work described in Modification No.

8, Task Arca 2, will expire on 8/31/99.

The term of this contract may be extended at the option of the Government for an additional 3 one-year options.

Should the NRC exercise an option years, the optional years will be exarcised and commence in ril."

4. A summary of obligations, from the award date through the date of this modification, are provide below:

Total FY 97 Obligations: $

947,847.28 Total FY 98 Obligations: $1,503,000.00 Cumulative Obligations:

$2,450,847.28

5. This modification obligates FY 98 funds in the amount of $50,000.

6. The following clause for government furnished property is hereby incorporated into this contract at Section H.8:

(a) The NRC will provide the contractor with the following items for use under this contract:
