Beginning with the NRC Strategic Assessment and Recaselining initiative in

'S95, the NRC has implemented an integrated planning, budgeting, anc pedermance measurement system to ensure that the business pnnciples of gcal settng, strategy deve!cpment, rescurce assessment, and per1crmance measurement uncergird NRC activities.

These initiatives meet the requirements of the Govemment Performance and Results Act of 1993.-

Specifically, licensees are requestec to previce (1) a simple numerical estimate cf the licensing 1 actions expected to be submitted in the remainder cf Fiscal Year (FY) 1998 and (2) an estimate l cf the number cf licensing actions expected to be submitted in FY 1999. To acecuately capture l the larger resource impact of certain !icensing reviews, licensees are recuested to icenufy by brief title these licensing acticns that are expected to generate ccmciex reviews, sucn as power f

in the future, the NRC expects to issue similar requests fer voluntary licensing acticn estimates 4 on an annual basis. The next request will likely be issued in the fall 1998 time frame anc will request licensing action sucmittal estimates for FY 1999 and FY 2000.
