COMME 7)ATION FOR SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE TO REVIEW GENERIC REQUIRF.MENTS (CRGR) I would like to thank you for your active participation in and strong support of the activities of the Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) since your appointment in March 1997 as the Committee Chairman while serving as the Director of the Office for Analysis and Evaluation ) of Operational Data, and as the RES member of the Committee since August 1997. I also note that you are one of the Charter members of the CRGR and also have the distinction of serving on the Committee on three separate occasions -the only CRGR member to have this honor. Your expertise in many areas considered by the CRGR in its review of proposed new requirements and significant policy issues, especially those related to NRC's move to risk-informea and performance-based regulations w:rc extremely valuable. In particular, your broad knowledge and sound technical insights from the probabilistic risk perspectives have significantly strengthe 1ed the important function served by the Committee. I am all the more appreciative of your efforts on the CRGR in view of the significant additional burden imposed by your participation in the Committee's bi-weekly meetings as well as various special meetings held to support staff commitments.
