Dear Mr. Cruse:
L This refers to the subject conference held on June 18,1998, at the NRC Region I office,
. King'of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The conference was held to discuss the radiological controls deficiencies experienced during replacement of nuclear instrumentation detectors in the Unit 1 reactor annulus on April 9,~1998, as documented in the referenced NRC inspection report. During this meeting, we also discussed your associated assessment efforts, including root causes and actions taken and planned, as specified in the referenced
' Confirmatory Action Letter (CAL).
The enclosed NRC Region I meeting report, and its attachments, provided a summary of the topics discussed.
At this meeting, you provided information relative to actions taken and results achieved
- with respect to commitments specified in the CAL. Based on NRC inspection findings documented in the referenced inspection report, findings documented in NRC Combined Inspection Report No. 50-317:318/98-06, dated June 29,1998, and the information you provided during the conference,' we find that all commitments detailed in the CAL have I
been met. Accordingly, no further response is required regardin9 the CAL and this CAL is considered closed. We will continue to verify the implementation of your Radiation Protection improvement Plan during future inspections of your licensed program.
You will be advised by separate correspondence of the results of our deliberations with respect to the apparent violations identified in the referenced NRC Inspection Report. No response regarding these apparent violations is required at this time.
