50/395 UNIT V. C. SUMMER I DATE 11/03/87-COMPLETED BY J. W. HALTIWANGER TELEPHONE (803) 345-4297 OCTOBER 1987 On October 1, 1987, V.C. Summer Station was operating at approximately 100 percent power.

i On October 14, at 2102 hours0.0243 days
0.584 hours
0.00348 weeks
7.99811e-4 months
, a power reduction was initiated to 30 percent power to allow access for the performance of surveillance / rework of some Reactor Building Cooling Unit electrical connections.

The plant was returned to full capacity at 1400 hours0.0162 days
0.389 hours
0.00231 weeks
5.327e-4 months
on October 17.

On October 29, at 0313 hours0.00362 days
0.0869 hours
5.175265e-4 weeks
1.190965e-4 months
, the plant tripped from 100 percent power on Lo-lo sttem generator level coincident with steam / feed flow mismatch.

Both primary side and secondary side power operated relief valves actuated during the transient. A short circuit in Process Cabinet 7008 caused the power supply output breakers to open. This resulted in loss of certain control power including feedwater flow control. On October 30, at 0903 hours0.0105 days
0.251 hours
0.00149 weeks
3.435915e-4 months
prior to startup (the reactor still subcritical, control rod shutdown banks withdrawn), a power loss to a source range cabinet occurred as a result of a blown fuse. The shutdown banks inserted whe' the associated bistable was actuated by the power loss.

Subsequent to making tne necessary repairs, the main generator was synchronized at 1658 hours0.0192 days
0.461 hours
0.00274 weeks
6.30869e-4 months
on October 30.

On October 31, the plant was operating at 100 percent power.
