Dear Ms. Ten Eyck:
GASEOUS DIFFUSION PLANTS - DELEASING OF ACREAGE On September 30,1997, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) agreed to delease certain outside acreage at the Paducah and Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plants back to DOE. The purpose of this letter is to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that the delease of this acreage has not taken place as planned.
The proposed delease.was to be effective on April 1,1998. However, USEC has not approved the revisions of Appendix A of the Lease Agreement between the Department ofEnergy and the United States Enrichment Corporation, or the revisions of the associated Lease Status Drawings (maps) reflecting the deleased acreage. Therefore, at this time, USEC remains the lessee of this acreage, and NRC remains the regulator.
