By letters dated November 4,1983, December 14, 1984 and September 30, 1985, j the licensee (Mississippi Power & Light Company prior to December 20, 1986 '

and System Energy Resources, Inc. after that date) provided information regarding post-maintenance testing in response to Generic Letter 83-28, Positions 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. By letter dated March 7, 1986, the licensee provided supplemental responses to staff requests for additional information regarding these items.

The NRC staff nas completed its review of the licensee's responses to Positions 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 of Generic Letter 83-28. The staff's safety evaluation is enclosed. Based on its review, the staff concludes that the licensee's programmatic controls and procedures for post-maintenance testing of components in the reactor trip system and other safety related systems of GGNS Units 1 and 2 meet the guidelines of Generic letter 83-28 and are acceptable.
