PRESENTATION OF A PAPER BY JIM THOMAS AT ANS MEET %NG Tour note had three attachments:

The thesis prepared by Jim entitled " Evaluation of the Maxey Flats Radioactive Waste Disposal site";

2.

An ANS Summary entitled "Maxey Flats Nuclear Waste Burial Site-Inventory"; and 3.

A four-page paper entitled " Draft Presentation".

We understand Mr. Thomas does not plan to present his thesis, but rather 1

i a paper on work continued following completion of his thesis. We have reviewed the ANS Summary,and the Draft Presentation. We see no reason not to permit Jim to present a paper on his work in developing computer programs to analyse the radioactive waste inventory at the Maxey Flats Site.

Jim may want to make a statement to the effect that the paper was not sponsored by the NRC to el4iniv te any possible implication that the NRC has endorsed his computer method and study results.
