IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY - $75,000 By EN 87-60 dated July 23, 1987, the Comission was notified of the intent of the staff to issue a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty in the amount of Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000) to Florida Power and Light Company. This action was based on two violations of NRC requirements concerning access control and search.
The licensee responded to the Notice in a letter dated August 26, 1987. After careful consideration of the licensee's response, the staff has concluded that the violation did occur as set forth in the Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty.
Accordingly, an Order Imposing Civil Penalty in the amount of $75,000 has been issued today. Under the terms of the Order, the licensee may within 30 days of the date of the Order, pay the civil penalty or request a hearing.
