REQUEST FOR REVIEW 0F EDG RELIABILITY PROGRAM GUIDELINES (REF SAFETY ISSUE B-56)
Enclosed are the EDG reliability program guidelines, with appendices, which have been prepared by SAI. Revisions and additions have been made pursuant to views exchanged at the June 23, 1987 meeting. Please review this package and providi me with your acceptance (as currently written), or required revisions (as written by you) by August 14,1987. This tight schedule'is necessary'to -
assure that USI A-44 (which is scheduled to be sent to the EDO in August 1987) is consistent with the staff's views regarding an adequate EDG reliability program.
In particular, your attention is directed to: 1) determining the adequacy of the main elements of an EDG reliability program as outlined in Table 1 (page 1-3),
and requirements as outlined in the main report, 2) EDG reliability / unavailability goals and calculational methods as outlined in Appendix A. Appendix A needs to be reviewed by NRR/SELB since this appendix will be the basis for revising RG 1.108 (or writing a new RG to be consistent with Generic Letter 84-15), and
- 3) reviewing of contents of the appendices to determine if adequate supplemental guidance is provided for both reviewer and user.
As previously discussed with you, if you require reassignment of work priorities, please discuss this request with your Branch Chief or Section Leader and ihvolve me as required. Resolution of USI A-44 is dependent on a satisfactory resolution of B-56.
These guidelines will be the principal reference for the B-56 resolution.
