Enclosed for'your information is the synopsis of the Nuclear Regulatory

. Commission (NRC) 0ffice of Investigations (01) completed report regarding alleged false information presented to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board regarding false operator training by the Southern Nuclear Operat_ing Company.

01 was unable to substantiate the allegation that Southern Nuclear Operating Company personnel intentionally provided false information, to the NRC.

We plan no further action with regard to this matter.

SYNOPSIS

.The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Region II. Office of Investigations, initiated this investigation on July 16. 1997, Office of the Inspector General Hotline call in which a Vogtle Electricfollowing an NR Generating Plant (VEGP:

alleged an NRC employee made a false statement before the Atomic aorPT v ano Licensing Board (ASLB) regarding training received Investigation clarified the alleger's concern which negateo a wrongaoing issue related to the NRC employee. but redirected the concern toward the licensee.

. alleged that statements made before the ASLB by the NRC empioyee, were factually incorrect and were based on known, incorrect information deliberately related to the NRC employee by VEGP training department personnel.

Investigation did not substantiate the allegation that VEGP personnel intentionally provided false information to the NRC.
