Mr. Herbert Berkow, Director Standardization and Special Projects

Dear Sir:

This is in response to your request that we submit additional supporting information to complete staff review of our December 19, 1985 application to amend the Indian Point Unit No. 1 (IP-1) Technical Specifications.

The proposed change would revise the IP-1 Technical Specifications by deleting Section 3.2.6 and adding Sections 4.1.7 and 4.1.8 to ensure that the IP-1 radiation protection requirements are consistent with Indian Point Unit No.

2 (IP-2) requirements.

Specifically, the following was requested:

1)

Revised Technical Specification pages such that proposed sections of the IP-1 Technical Specifications state the exact requirements appearing in the IP-2 Technical Specifications. Our December 19, 1985 application provided page revisions which included a pro-posed statement that would have referred the user to the appro-priate section of the IP-2 Technical Specifications;

)

2)

A discussion in the Safety Ascessment that addresses the impact of the proposed charge to IP-1 high radiation areas and the measures that would ensure a commensurate level of radiation

3)

A revised No Significant Hazard Consideration with a more com-plete discussion of the three 10 CFR 50.92 (c) criteria as they l

relite to the proposed change.

Accordingly, the attachments to this letter provide the above requested l

items and supplement our December 19, 1985 application.

Should you or your staff require additional information, please contact us.
