REVIEW 0F SAR's ON THE WEST VALLEY DEMONSTRATION e!

We want to be sure that the Low-Level Waste Management staff is aware of the i
Safety Analysis Report (SAR) volumes we have received from the West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP), and that the responsibilities of our two divisions
)
in reviewing these documents are agreed. To this end we have enclosed a list of the SAR titles we have received or expect to receive from West Valley, along with the dates by which we are committed to respond with a Safety Evaluation Report (SER). We have also indicated in which cases we believe a LLWM contri-bution to the SER is necessary.
In two cases, Class A waste disposal and Class B/C waste di:;posal, we consider the SER's to be solely your responsibility, and have, the'refore, not set due dates.
In the other cases, the NRC West Valley Project Manager will coordinate the comments of our two divisions, along with the contributions of any other divisions that may be required.
In each case, a single NRC SER will be prepared for each SAR volume.
The next SER due is for the cement solidification system. We would appreciate receiving LLWM's comments on the cement solidification system SAR by September 30, 1987.
