STATUS OF INITIAL STARTUP TEST PROGRAM Gentlemer.:
Due to the replacement.of a failed reactor coolant pump motor, Plant Vogtle has. experienced a delay in startup following the maintenance outage initiated on October 9,1987.
The current estimate for startup is October 30, 1987..In a telephone call with the NRC Project Manager on October 22, 1987, Georgia Power Company discussed the impact of this delay on the remaining startup tests.
Georgia Pbwer Company plans on conducting the two remaining startup tests (load swing test and automatic steam generator level control test) within 3-5 days following return to 100 percent power.
Due to the startup delay, the potential exists that these tests will not be completed prior to October 31, 1987, the date specified in your letter of October 8, 1987.
Please review your previous letter and advise us as to the acceptability of completing the remaining tests in early November.
