The information presented is as initially received withour verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by OIE staff as of 10:00 a.m. on

Personnel at MIT received a bomb threat at 1:49 a.m., January 30. This call represented the third threat. Prior threats were made January 22 and 23.
3 In each case the facility was shutdown and searched.* No bombs were found.

The licensee has notified campus authorities and the FBI. On each of the three threats the licensee wap informed by the FBI of other threats at non-reactor facilities in the Boston area.

Media interest is expected because of recurring threats at several installations in the Boston area during the past 8 days. The State of Massachusetts has been informed. A press release is not planned. The FBI has also been contacted on each occasion by Region I.
1 Region I, Philadelphia, Pa. received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 4:15 a.m. January 30, 1976.
