Subject:

ORGANIZED DEMONSTRATION AT VERMONT YANKEE Region I (Philadelphia) inspectors observed anti-nuclear posters in the local area around Brattleboro, Vermont. The posters announced "A March Away from the Vermont Nuclear Power Plant" for Saturday, June 5, 1976.

The posters stated " Join Us on the National Anti-Nuclear Days."

The events identified were: Wednesday, June 3rd, 7:30 p.m., the showing of two films: "Lovejoy's Nuclear War" and "The Occupation at Whyl (Germany)"; Friday, June 4th, 7:30 p.m., "Public Action Forum"; and Saturday June 5th, 10:00 a.m., " Walk Away from a Nuclear Power Plant."

Our inspectors attended the showing of the movies on the evening of June 3rd. They report that approximately 100 anti-nuclear personnel attended the showings. The movie "Lovejoy's Nuclear War" was described by our inspectors as being a primer on civil disobedience presented in a low D(

  • key, religious-like manner. The second movie, "The Occupation of Why)",

concerned t;he , systems and organizations that were involved in the sit-in l

of many thousands of individuals at the construction site at Whyl. The movie also discussed the Groups' interactions, and lessons learned, with law enforcement groups and municipal governments.

Region I has determined that the State was fully informed on the f i subject and that the FBI was informed. Our inspectors, who are /

experienced, were surprised at the serious and uncompromising attitude displayed by the anti-nuclear group. kO Media interest is expected. A press release is not planned. 2 This information is current as of noon on 6/4.
