PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE --PNS-76-12 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of l POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by OIE staff as of 10:00 a.m. on date of this notification. BOMB THREAT The Groton Connecticut Fire Department received a telephone call from a male caller, who advised that a bomb was on the licensee's site.

The threat was reported to the Waterford Connecticut Police Department who in turn advised the licensee at 10:35 p.m., April 6, 1976. The dg licensee's security force and operating personnel with the assistance of the Waterford Police and Fire' Departments searched the premises, no bomb was found. The search was completed at 11:45 p.m., April 6, 1976.

The FBI has been notified by the licensee.

Media interest is expected because of current news interest in the entire nuclear industry in the State of Connecticut. The State of Connecticut has been and is being kept informed. A press release is not pla.4ned.

Region I, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 11:30 p.m., April 6, 1976 and updated at 8:45 a.m., April 7, 1976.
