POSSIBLE PERSONNEL OVEREXPOSURE Film badge results for the month of September, 1976, show two employees' received whole body exposures of 115 rems and 116 rems, respectively.

Licensee states employees perform density measurements ucing sealed sources l

containing 8 me cesium-137 and 15 me americium-241. Lice v,ea Radiation Safety Officer contacting employees to ascertain circumstances.

highly unlikely that personnel exposures of this magnitude could have i

resulted from these sources. NRC, Region IV will conduct an investi-gation on December 10, 1976. The Licensee notified the State of Utah Industrial Commission which also plans to investigate on December 10.

Media interest is not evident at present. However, some interest may result from the Industrial Commission investigation. Neither the 11-censee nor NRC plan to issue a press release. Region IV also notified the State of Utah Department of Health.

NRC Region IV (Arlington, Texas) received telephone notification of the above at 2:00 p.m. on December 8, 1976, from the licensee's Radiation Safety Officer. This information is current as of 11:00 a.m. December 9, 1976.
