SUBJECT:
WITHDRAWAL OF REQUEST FOR CRGR TO REVIEW THE STAFF'S SAFETY EVALUATIONS FOR THE BWR VESSEL AND INTERNALS PROJECT SUBMiTTALS Subsequent to the discussions held by you with Jack R. Strosnider, Acting Deputy Director of the Division of Engineering, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) is withdrawing its request to have the Committee to Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) waive review of the staff's safety evaluation (SEs) for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) proprietary guidance reports that have been submitted by the BWR Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP).
Specifically, these reviews are of the BWRVIP-03,-14, and -18 reports.
The subject SEs are not complete, in as they contain open issues which require further review before a final SE can be issued. As such, CRGR review at this time is not required. When the open issues have been resolved, the staff will provide the CRGR with the final SEs for review, if required.
