Gentlemen:
Georgia Power: Company (GPC) is in the process ' of. completing construction' of aL new' Emergency. News Center (ENC) in. Vidalia,. Georgia.
The new ENC will replace ;our interim facility ~ on the same site.. On July 22, 1987, Mr.
A.
Cunningham of the NRC Region II staff was notified by Mr. L. A. Hill (GPC) that the telephone system for the interim ENC would have to be disconnected in order to provide service to.the new ENC. The. telephone service to the interim ENC was disconnected' on: the afternoon of ' July 22, 1987, and installation of the telephone ' system. to -the new ENC was initiated.
Telephone installation will be completed by July 31, 1987.
The functions ' of the ENC will be sustained during this period by use of the District Operations Headquarters, I
which is the' nnrmal media briefing area adjacent to both the new and interim 1
Emergency, News Centers.
