Gentlemen:
In our letter of June 9,1987 which responded to your May 13, 1987 request, we advised that the exemption for uncleared guards would not be extended and that the concern which created the requirement to man the offsite post would be re-examined in light of the current security operations at your site.
We have reviewed your proposed alternatives discussed in your May 13 letter and the current operational conditions and SSNM controls at your site. During our review we found that the current controls over SSNM are sufficient to eliminate the concern raised by the RER team during their site visit in February 1984.
j Accordingly, we are hereby amending Safeguards Amendment SG-1 to your License SNM-368 by revising License Condition 9.3, effective imediately, to read as follows:
9.3 The licensee is hereby authorized to eliminate the'offsite post i
as part of the onsite security program. The guards in the towers shall j
remain as part of the onsite security organization and shall fall under the provision of 10 CFR Part 11 and the UNC NP Physical Security Plan.
In addition, we are hereby deleting effective immediately related License Conditions 9.5 and 9.5.A.
