The 11.9 New Fuel container consists of a two section horizontal fE g

g cylindrical shell approximately 31 inches diameter by 239 inches 5
g long. The shell is re!nforced by internal bulkheads and is parted E
(
along an axial plane into an upper and lower section. The E
I bulkheads are designed to frame a central chamber within which the E
8 module to be carried is supported and held in place by cradle

l frames and clamps.
The cradle frames are supported from shockmounts g
which are attached to brackets inside the container shell. The g
container incorporates features for lifting, hoisting and for lg g

purging and pressurizing to 5 psig of nitrogen. The fuel module is lE l(
1 shipped with design control rod and lead screw installed and either I
with or without the motor tube installed. When shipped with a motor f tube, the leadscrew and control rod essembly is held in place by the
!g design leadscrew restraint latches. When shipped without a motor p

tube, the leadscrew and control rod assembly is held in place by a N
I special plug and holddown cap which bear against the top of the g
i leadscrew and are anchored to the closure block by two,1-3/8" I
diameter bolts or two,1-5/16" diameter bolts for Core 4 or Core 4A l
l respectively. Shipments may be made by motor vehicle, rail, cargo aircraft, or water transportation. The maximum weight of the loaded n

container is approximately 5,100 lbs.
