J 'i REFUELING INFORMATION REQUEST Questions: l. Naiae of f acility. 1 -1 2. Scheduled date for next refueling shutdown. I 3. Scheduled date for restart following. refueling. l 4. Will refueling or resumption of operation thereafter require a technical specification change or other license amendment? i If answer is yes, what,. in general,,will these be? If answer is no, has the reload fuel design and. core configuration been reviewed by your Plant Safety Review Committee to determine I whether'any unreviewed safety questions are. associated with the core q reload (Ref. 10 CFR Section 50.59)? j If no such review has taken place, when is it scheduled? 5. Scheduled date (s) for submitting proposed licensing action and supporting information. 6. Important licensing considerations associated with refueling, e.g., new or dif ferent fuel design or supplier, unreviewed. design or 1, performance analysis methods, significant changes-in ' fuel design, new operating procedures. 7. The number of fuel assemblies (a) in the core and (b),in the' spent fuel storage pool. l 8. The present licensed spent fuel pool storage capacity and'the size of any increase in' licensed storage capacity that has been requested or l is planned, in number of fuel assemblies. J l 9. The projected date of the last refueling that can be discharged to L the spent fuel pool assuming the present licensed capacity.- 1 1. d l L l l l I i Page 1 of 3 1397t . j' 0934A u
y i Unit 1 - Answers 1 1. Zion Unit 1 2. Next refueling outage is currently scheduled to begin on September 7, 1989. 3. Cycle 12 is scheduled to start on November 16, 1989. 4. One Technical Specification change was made for the next cycle (Amendment No. 114) and two others are being considered. The completed change involves line and valve assignment changes associated with the recently ) approved Tec'n Spec change for the Boron Injection Tank (BIT) removal. No j additional FSAR Chapter 14 analyses will be required. Of the two Technical Specification change requests being considered for l next cycle, the first will result from a new LOCA analysis being pursued that will allow steam generator tube plugging levels of greater than 10%. l The second would allow for new methods of steam generator repair (tube sleeving). l l i The reload safety review is planned for May 24, 1989. The On-site Review 1 will be held after that review. l u 5. None { l 6. The revised General Operating Procedures should be implemented during l Cycle II operation. f 7. The number of fuel assemblies l l a) in the core is 193, and j l b) in the spent fuel storage pool from Zion Unit 1 is 632. Four of the last discharge of 80 assemblies were originally Zion Unit 2 assemblies. 8. The present licensed spent fuel pool storage capacity (shared with Zion Unit 2) is 2112 fuel assemblies. 4 9. Zion Station will lose full core discharge capability in 1993, based on l the latest Nuclear Stations Refueling Schedule. i i Page 2 of 3 13971 0934A
