U. S. Nuclear P.egulatory commission Region 61 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, Pa.19406 Gentlemen:
I purchased property about a year ago in Pawling, NY. and it is located on Route 55 about 2 miles (or less) from a lake which shows on the Dutchess County map as " Nuclear Lake".
Recently I tried to get to the lake because I was told that barrels of nuclear waste had been dumped into it during the 1950's.
Since it seems to be blocked off from easy access I need some information from you.
My intention was to build my home on my four acres of property.
My questions are many but most important I must know if there is any truth to what I heard.
If so, what danger is there if I build a deep well on my property which is about south of Nuclear Lake? If such containers are indeed in this lake, is there any danger of damage allowing the waste to infiltrate the lake? If I call your agency, is there anyone specifically I can get definite information from?
Please reply as soon as possible.
Thar,k you.
Yours truly, Lt)) h ck Ronald Gilbert l
