SUBJECT:
SCHEDUl.ED REGION III EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS EXERCISE PARTICIPATION FOR FY89 Region III is required by Regional Procedure 13108 Incident Response Training Program, to participate in emergency response exercises on a quarterly basis.
For fiscal year 1989 the following exercises have been approved by the Regional i
Administrator's office and coordinated with Headquarters for our participation:
Byron Nuclear Power Station - Base team and limited December 7, 1988 site team Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant - Base team and site March 15, 1989 team.
(This exercise is tentatively scheduled to be evaluated by headquarters.)
Materials exercise with a Priority I licensee May or June, 1989 Perry Nuclear Power Plant - Base team and limited August 30, 1989 site team You will be notified by future memorandum of player schedules for the planned exercises l

November 13-17 Firm dates for exercises beyond. December 31, 1989 have not been specifically. defined.
Normally, exercises for each plant are scheduled the same month each year; however schedules may change based on plant conditions or local or state participation requirements.
Region IV has no information regarding local, state or federal participation at these exercises, except that State and Local I
participation is expected for the South Texas and Comanche Peak exercises.
l Region IV expects to participate to varying extents during each

' scheduled drill; however there may be a schedular conflict between Comanche Peak and Fort Calhoun which would preclude participation in one of these drills.
