_...i. _ ~5nilysTsJ Packaging Safety Please' find enclosed the NuPac PAS-2 Report (SAR) for renewal of the PAS-2 Package Certificate of Compliance under timely renewal.
The Safety Analysis Report has been consolidated and reformatted to conform with the latest version of 10CFR71 and NRC Regulatory Guide 7.9.
Eight copies of the PAS-2 Revision 0 Cons olidat ed SAR (Proprietary Version) and two copies on the Non-Proprietary SAR are also enclosed.
In addition to the SAR consolidation, the PAS-2 (SAR) has been changed to eliminate reference to the NuPac N-55 Package as the outer overpack.
The outer overpack, based on the NuPac N-55 design, has been qualified by test as presented in the SAR.
The consolidation and elimination of reference to the NuPac N-55 has resulted in extensive rework of the Thermal Analysis.
Section 3.0 of the SAR has been revised to include the applicable Thermal Analysis that was previously used in the N-55 SAR.
Predicted tempera tur es have been significan tly reduced due to regulatory change as well as a more rigorous analysis performed in the consolidated r eport.
The proprie tary and non-proprietary versionc of the repor t in their entirety are protected under copyright law as unpublished material.
The placement of the non-propr ie t a ry version in the Public Document Room may be done with our permission.
- However, this permission should not be construed as a waiver of, or in any way be prejudicial to, our lawful proprietary rignts to thJs material.
It is done only to facilitate the issuance of the Cer tificate of Compliance for this package.
