Gentlemen:

On February 5,1988, TU Electric letter logged TXX-88177 notified the NRC of a deficiency involving unacceptable subcompartment pressurization effects resulting from a postulated pressurizer surge line break determined to be reportable under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).

The last report on this issue, logged TXX-88697, war, submitted October 3, 1988.

The additional analysis on the pressurizer surge line required to address thermal stratification effects has been completed and is in the final review stage. The final report is expected to be issued by April 28, 1989.

As stated in TXX-88697, the analysis for Unit 2 will be completed prior to Unit 2 Hot Functional Test.

Sincerely, William J. Cahill, Jr.
