Two Rivers, WI. 54241 Sirs /Madem:
I wrote the last time you asked for public input on the subject of degrees for SRO's, so I do not intend to go over it again in detail-that it would take me approx. 10 years on a part time basis to get the degree you want me to have to advance to an SRO position.
Since shift work is a requirement of the job, my off duty time needed to get a degree is very significant.
My time with my family is already limited due to shift work, so I do not intend to take anymore time from them for a degree that no one thinks I need to have with the exception of a couple people, who do not want to believe their own surveys.
I feel that the NRC should be looking at what knowledge of an SRO should be enhanced.
Forcing SRO's to have a degree would make them very knowledgeable in one area, but not in the half dozen other areas that are a part of operating a Nuclear Power Plant.
Also the knowledge level should be that needed to safely operate a nuclear power plant, not redesign it.

1 1 am definitely against the degree requirement for an SRO.
-j Unless I'm grandfathered in the next 4-5 years I will be locked j
out.of the SRO job.
I do not-intend to spend the 20 or so years I have left as an RO.
Sincerely,
