Dear Chairman Zech:

1 l

I am writing to you to strongly oppose any plans to J

discharge water created by the 1979 accident at Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant into the Susquehanna River.

The Chesapeake Bay is very important to us.

The state has made strong efforts to clean up the bay.

The Maryland Legislature has been working on the implementation of many important strategies, including the critical areas building ban, the rockfish ban, and phosphorus ban, and upgrade of sewerage treatment plants, l

l We have a partnership with the Federal Government and a major financir: commitment toward the goal of cleaning-up one of the world's largest estuaries.

The adjacent states continue to meet, discuss and agree on regional solutions toward this problem.

I request that you personally review your Agency's proposals and immediately terminate any plans to use the Susquehanna as a disposal method.

This proposal would be contrary to all the established goals we have set for this important ecological goal of restoring and preserving the Chesapeake Bay for today and for future generations.

Very truly yours,7
