REF: SNM-1107, Docket 70-1151 Plant Expansion Westinghouse hereby requests an amendment to License SNM-1107 to authorize the use of radioactive materials in the Southeast plant expansion at the Columbia Site.
An amendment request for the Southwest plant expansion will l
be submitted at a later date.
This application consists of changed p ages to Section 1
(Safety Demonstration) of the license.
All new activities shall be suoject to the existing radiological and nuclear criticality safety criteria and the effluent controls and limits in the license.

'1.12L Southeast Plant-Exoansion The following activities are authorized for the southeast. plant j
expansion:
(1) Metallurgical Laboratory (2) Mechanical Development Laborat.ory (3) Product' Design Test Laboratory.
(4) Health Physics Laboratory (5) Maintenance (6) Bulk Blending (7) Radioactive Material Storage (8). Radioactive Material Transfers All activities shall be subject to the existing radiological and nuclear criticality safety criteria and the effluent controls' and limits of Section 2, 3 and 4 of the license.
1.12.1 Metallurgical Laboratory Activities in this area include' sample preparation and polishing, testing and examination.
This area is limited to 1000 grams U-235.
1.12.2 Mechanical Development Laboratory Activities in this area include machining, milling,
- testing, welding, etc., associated with development projects.
I 1.12.3 Project Desinn Test Laboratory Activities in this area include fuel assembly hydraulic, vibratory.
and impact testing.
j 1.12.4 Health Physics Laboratory Activities in this area include instrument repair, calibration and testing, sample preparation and counting, respirator fit testing, urinalyses and source storage.
1.12.5 Maintenance Activities in this area include pump and valve repair and maintenance, tool room parts storage, and welding.
1.12.6 Bulk Blending Activities in this area include powder transfers,
