MEMORANDUM FOR: Frank J. Congel Director, Division of Radiation Protection and Emergency Preparedness Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation j

Nuclear Regulatory Commission FROM:

N Assistant Associate Director Office of Natural'and Technological Hazards Programs

SUBJECT:

Finding on Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Some time ago, FEMA made a v$rbal commitment to deliver to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) by July 15, 1987, a finding on the adequacy of the offsite emergency preparedness plans for the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

While the production of this i

l document has been, and will continue to be, a high priority for FEMA, I regret that there have been some delays in finalizing the report.

The delays have occurred, for the most part, due to efforts to fully research 1

some of the issues involved 4.n the finding.

We intend to deliver the report to NRC on or about August 15, 1987.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 646-2871.
