Dear Mr. Carrington:
EG&G Idaho personnel assist the Mechanical Engineering Branch (MEB) of the NRC in the review of applicants' programs for qualification of safety j
related electrical and mechanical equipment for seismic and dynamic loads.
i The review consists of:
(1) a determination of the acceptability of the i
procedures used, standard followed, and completeness of the program in general, and (2) an audit of selected equipment items to develop the basis for the staff judgment on the completeness and adequacy of the implementation of the entire scismic and dynamic qualification program. This is done by a seismic qualification review team (SQRT).
The SQRT consists of engineers from MEB and the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL).
During the week of December 16 through December 19, 1986, EG&G Idaho personnel (J. N. Singh, R. G. Rahl and 8. L. Harris) assisted the NRC i
in the SQRT audit of a sample of selected equipment for the South Texas Project Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1.
The audit, which was performed at the plant site, consisted of field inspection of equipment, review of the qualification reports, resolution of issues, and identification of action items encountered during the review.
