Wasington, D.C. 20555 RE:
RANCH SECO NULEAR PLANT Herald, California Let nie preface this with the fact that I am not anti-nuclear pewer.
However, I have a great concern regarding the subject plant as do the great majority of people in Sacramento regarding it's safety.
As you know this plant is over-age and has had a GREAT number of problems in the last few years. YET YOUR COMMIqSION KEEPS LICENSING THIS PLANT. WHY? On one hand you say it is safe to operate and on the other hend you levy outrageous fines, which we the users are forced to pay in our electric bills.
The latest closure of the Ranch was this morning after only 21 DAYS IN OPERATION._
~
So far there have just been " lit tle" things, BUT WHEN1THE INEVITABLE
" BIG"0NE HAPPENS, what are you going to tell people? Oops, sorry, our mistake, we should have closed the plant. Closing the gate after the horse gets out?
With all the drug related problems as well as incompetent people running this plant, HOW CAN YOU JUSTIFY THE CONTINUING LICENSING OF THIS PLANT?_
~
Please take into consideration the safety of people in Sacramento and surrounding communities instead of caving into politicians, SMUD board member, etc.
I would app eciate an answer to this letter as I think the people have a right to protection against this plant.
Yours truly, Yl>$
