The above referenced license covers a single Pu-238 sealed source housed in a neutron howitzer for laboratory experiments and student instruction.
The entire program associated with the use, control, and protection of this source was thoroughly described in the renewal application dated 11/30/81.
That application continues to accurately describe the current program as there have been no substantial changes in the program since that application was submitted.
We therefore opt to follow the abbreviated application option and submit this letter as our official request for renewal of that license. UMass/ Boston is exempt from licensing and renewal fees as a state university.
