During a routine inspection, door 41 which separates the
'B' l
. Electrical Switchgear Room from the Mechanical Room in the Control Building was discovered to have a metal panel welded to one side of the door.
The welding of this metal panel to this door deviates from the Underwriters' Laboratory-(UL) listing.

Since it is not known exactly when this doorLbecame nonfunctional, it is assumed it was nonfunctional for greater than seven days.
l Compensatory measures described in Technical Specification 3.7.9.

were fulfilled (hourly fire patrol established and verification of smoke detector operability) on September 4, 1987.

The estimated completion date for repair and return to service is January 3, 1988.
