Daar Mr. Grimsley:

This request is made pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 522, as amended. UNION ASSOCIATES submits this request to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to obtain documents regarding the following:

THE FEBRUARY 18, 1983 MEETING OF NRC REPRESENTATIVES AND LONG' ISLAND LIGHTING COMPANY (LILCO) PERSONNEL, STONE & WEBSTER ENGINEERING CORP. PERSONNEL AND OTHERS REGARDING THE FINDINGS OF THE NRC READINESS ASSESS _

MENT TEAM INSPECTION OF THE SHOREHAM NUCLEAR PLANT IN JANUARY 1983.

In your response, the NRC should consider " documents" to mean any and all forms of written communication, including internal NRC staff memoranda. Your response should also in.clude, but not be limited to, the following:

reports, studies, plans, graphs, charts, diagrams, memoranda, correspondence, test results, working papers, meeting notes and minutes, computer records.,

and print-outs, notes and summaries of conversations and interviews.

These documents are specifically requested from, but not limited to, the following offices of the NRC:

UNION ASSOCIATES requests the NRC to provide all documents prepared or utilized by, in the possession of, or routed through the NRC.containing any and all information related to the following.

1. Preparation for the meeting of February 18, 1983 among NRC:. staff, LILCO personnel, Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. personnel and others.  ;
2. All notes of the February 18, 1983 meeting, including informal notes of participants.
3. Agenda of meeting.
4. All attendees or other participants at the meeting and each participant's role at the meeting.
5. All instructions or directives given by the NRC to LILCO on preparing documents to be filed with the NRC.
6. All documents pertaining to discussions of problems found at the Shoreham nuclear plant by the NRC ]

Readiness Inspection Team in January 1983.

7. All documents regardings inspections or " walk-downs" by NRC staff at the Shoreham nuclear facility as follow-up to the February 18, 1983 meeting.
8. All documents filed by LILCO or Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. with the NRC as a follow-up to the February 18, 1983 meeting or the inspection by the Readiness Assessment Team in January 1983.
