SUBJECT:
Docket No. 71-9044
Dear Mr. MacDonald:
CNSI submits additional in formation to support the amendment request of Reference (1) above.
The additional information provides proposed corrective action to alleviate the possibility of water intrusion into the lift lug bolt holes.
The lift lugs remain on the cask during the loading, ha ndl ing,
transport and offloading.
CNSI proposes to provide a continuous weld around the lift lug and cask interface and around each lift lug bolt, after verification of proper torquing.
The lift lug bolts have previously been evaluated to meet the structural requirements for lifting and handling the cask, and therefore the proposed welds are not load bearing components.
Revision 1 of document CNSI 9044-SI is provided for review.
This revised document shows the proper revision level of Drawing No. C-110-8-06402-003, Rev. A.
The Top View of Cask detail shows the proposed welds.
Based upon the completion of the aforementioned
- items, CNSI request authorization to return the Model No. CNSI l-13G cask to service.
Please feel free to contact us if you, or members of your staff, have any quest:ons concerning this matter, m
very truly yours, 4)
