Inspection Division's Quality Assurance Manual are directed to your office to register in writing that Piping Specialties, Inc., NRC Materials License No. 24-24826-01, is a user of NRC approved containers used to transport type B quantities of licensed material throughout the State of Missouri and bordering NRC agreement states.
Attached is copy of the Certificate of Compliance for Radioactive Materials Packages that P.S.I. Inspection Division presently use. P.S.I. Inspection Division has in it's possession two (2) Source Production and Equipment Company"s Gamma Ray Projectors Model no. SPEC-2-T.
P.S.I. Inspection Division's Q.A. Program and Q.A. Manual are Structured and implemented in accordance with 10 CFR Part 71. 10 Q.A. program requirements.
Accompanying this correspondence is the proper license fee in the amount of one hundred and fifty dollars in the form of a P.S.I. Inspection Division company check made payable to the USNRC Licensing Fee Management Branch.
Please forward fee payment if your office finds our Q.A. Program acceptable.

Description i
A steel encased, uranium shielded Gamma Ray Pro.jector.
Primary components consist of an outer steel shell, internal bracing, depleted uranium l
shield,, and a Zircalloy "S" tube.
The contents are securely positioned in the 'Zircalloy "S" tube by a source cable locking device and shipping 3
plug.
The unit resembles a rectangular box 12.5" long by 4.4" high by 4.4" wide with a gross weight of 40 pounds.

1 TECHNICAL DATA on the SPEC 2-T CAPACITY: Any strength up to 200 Curies Iridium-192 WElGHT: 40 lbs.
DIMENSIONS: Length 12%" Width 4%" Height (exc. Handle) 4" RADIATION LEVELS: Meets applicable requirements of State and Federal Regulatory Agencies.
CONSTRUCTION: Welded stainless steel jacket. Depleted uranium shield secured with welded steel straps.
Both outlet nipple and control connections protected by steel flanges. Source cannot be removed from rear of unit, even when unlocked.
HANDLE: Metal construction. Provides storage for both lock cap and safety plug.
CONTROL S: The SPEC control assembly is one of the most advanced and break resistant systems available it consists of a two piece cast aluminum pistol grip featuring a roller bearing mounted gear shaf t. 25 f t. flexible nylon conduit is standard. Source tubes are of flexible construction.ard utilize quick disconnect couplings. Source tubes are supplied 14 f t. in length standard or can be made to order.
SOURCE CAPSULE: Model G-1 stainless steel encapsulation. Meets all applicable regulatory requirements.
SHIELD: Approximately 32 lbs. of depleted' uranium with a zircoloy tube.
