Volume I contains unit 1 ISI examinations that were performed'during the second period of the first 10-year interval as identified in SQN. Surveillance Instruction (SI) 114.1, "ASME Section XI

. Inservice Inspection Program." These examinations were conducted in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure' Vessel Code, Section'XI, 1977 Edition through Summer 1978' addenda.

TVA utilized a third-party inspection agency. the Hartford Steam Boiler and .

. Inspection Company, to witness and verify these examinations. -Also provided

in volume 1 is the ASME Form NIS-1. Volumes 2 through-5 contain~a partial

. submittal ~of the_ASME Section XI summary reports that were generated as a result of repairs, replacements, and modifications on unit 1.

Because of the prolonged unit 1 outage '(August 1985 through November 1988),

many extensive modifications and improvements were performed'in order to-update and implement various licensing requirements. Approximately 51 percent of the applicable summary reports have.been provided in volumes 2 through 5.

.TVA will submit the balance of the ASME Section XI summary reports and their associated ISI examination results by May 6, 1989. This commitment is provided in enclosure 2.
