50-328j SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) UNITS 1 AND 2 - NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS.
50-327/87-53 AND 50-328/87 RESPONSE TO VIOLATION NOS. 50-327,
-328/87-53-01 Enclosed is TVA's response to Gary G. Zech's August 19, 1987 letter to S. A. White that transmitted the subject Notice of Violation.
contains the response to the Notice of Violation. Commitments contained in the response are listed in enclosure 2.
Please note that the original schedule for completion of control room barrier modifications, committed to in our letter dated August 7, 1987, has been changed.
This change is necessary based on a more detailed review of the integrated schedule and additional operational considerations.
Because of these considerations, some work that was earlier believed could be performed concurrently must now be accomplished sequentially (e.g., modification of both stairwells).
Delay in submittal of this response to the violation was discussed with Frank McCoy on September 18, 1987.
During a review of the referenced inspection report, some apparent typographical errors were noted that we would like to bring to your attention. The first is in enclosure 1 of the report in the Notice of Violation.
It was specified that the NRC inspection was conducted on July 22-24, 1979, as opposed to July 22-24, 1987.
In addition, in paragraphs 3 and 4 of the details section of the report there are references to unresolved item 86-70-01.
We believe the correct references should be to 86-72-01.
These were discussed with W. J. Tobin, who agreed with TVA's understanding of these corrections.
Please note that we have assigned a number to the violation, for reference purposes, of 87-53-01.
No designation to this effect was made in the inspection report; however, we believe it is a valid designation since there are no other findings in the report.
